Nu Image Audio in Salina has remote car starter solutions for almost every vehicle on the road, including those with push-to-start ignition systems. Our remote car starters are designed to integrate with many different applications. Vehicles with keyless entry, hybrid drivetrains, diesel engines or even manual transmissions are no problem for the installation technicians at Nu Image Audio.
Push-To-Start Ignition Integration
Vehicles with push-to-start ignition systems typically use a key-fob with a short-range radio transmitter to authenticate themselves with the computer in the car. Once you unlock the door, get in and sit down, the fob and the computer talk to each other. Then the car waits for you to press the start button on the dash. The engine management computer takes over the starting process from there.
Our remote starters and data integration modules speak the same digital language as the computers in your car. When you press the remote start button on your remote, the integration module and vehicle computer exchange the required information and the engine starts. When you are ready to drive away, just unlock the door and step in. The vehicle will recognize your key and you’ll be good to go.
A few vehicles, like Toyota and Lexus, don’t allow the engine to stay running when you open the door to get in. In these applications, the engine and vehicle interior will have already started to warm up. All you have to do is press the start button on the dash again.
Keyless Entry Vehicles
In the same way that our data communication modules communicate with your engine management computer, they can also talk to the door lock system. This gives your remote starter control over locking and unlocking. If you have a keyless entry system, it will continue to work with your factory-supplied key fob and to allow you to unlock or lock the doors when you are near the vehicle. Our remote starter system adds a second option for lock control.
Hybrid and Diesel Drivetrain Application
Vehicles with hybrid drivetrains work the same as a conventional gasoline engine in terms of the remote starting procedure. Once started, the vehicle cannot tell the difference between you having pressed the start button on the dash or the data signal from our interface module. That said, the interface module makes it so you cannot drive the vehicle until it detects the presence of your authenticated key fob. This is one of the many safeguards that ensure your vehicle is safe when remote started.
In diesel applications, our starters have several options to wait for a signal from the engine before it is cranked. This gives the glow plugs time to warm up to ensure efficient starting in cold weather.
