A client from Lincoln contacted Nu Image Audio about a car audio system for his beautiful 1955 Chevy Panel Wagon. He stopped by our facility with his vehicle so we could look it over with him and talk about goals for the upgrade. After seeing the vehicle in person and getting to know him better, we worked up a proposal that we thought best fit his needs. He liked it, so we set up a time to begin working on it.
Radio And Speaker Upgrades
We began by replacing the existing stereo system in the dash with a Pioneer DEH-X6800BT unit that gave him Bluetooth for hands-free calling and wireless music streaming. The next step in the upgrade process was improving the front speakers. We chose the Hertz DCX165.3 6.5” coaxial speakers and made custom enclosures to mount them underneath the front dash. The client didn’t want to see the front speakers, so our custom pods fit the bill perfectly.
Party In The Back
In the rear of the vehicle is where the magic really happens. Our fabrication team made a custom enclosure in the form of a Bow Tie emblem to hold the rear speakers and the subwoofer. As you can see in the pictures, it fit perfectly with the theme of his interior. We mounted Hertz DCX690.3 6×9” speakers on the outside of the box and a Phoenix Gold RX110 10” subwoofer centrally in the box. The combination of the rear speakers and the subwoofer really gives the sound system some authority when you crank it up.
Powered By Alpine
At this point, it was time to put some power in the audio system, so we turned to Alpine, choosing their MRV-V500 5 channel amplifier. This little guy puts out almost 400 watts of clean power in a small chassis that we were able to hide in a good location.
Top-Notch Wiring And Installation
During the installation, we ran all new wiring to ensure a good signal. Any time we are dealing with a classic vehicle, new wire runs should be a given to eliminate any possibility of issues in the future. We soldered all the connections and applied heat shrink for maximum durability, and neatly loomed and securely mounted all wiring for easy servicing in the future.
Client Blown Away By Chevy Panel Wagon Audio
When the client came to pick up his 1955 Chevy, he was blown away by the quality of the installation. When we cranked it up, he knew he had made the right decision.
